Lifeline Crossings
A long-durational research project. Working as a museum guard, watching time fold and unfold, mingle, rest, spread. Listening to the whispering of things.
Evgenia Tsanana is a Hamburg-based visual and performance artist, born 1964 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
She studied Visual Communication at the Hochschule fur bildende Kunste in Hamburg, where she attended the performance class of Marina Abramović.
Her interdisciplinary artworks encompass graphics, video, singing, performance and lecture-performances; and have explored subjects including the body and gravity, varieties of visual perception, human couples, shifting of identities, genders or species, cosmology, the perception of time, birds, jellyfish and other animals, nothingness and air, light, space, memory and trust.
Her approach is usually phenomenological and often collaborative, working with both artists and scientists. She has presented work at the Kaskadenkondensator and the Performance Index Festival in Basel, Bildwechsel and the DESY research center in Hamburg, and at art events, film festivals, scientific conferences, clubs and other cultural venues in Germany, Switzerland and Greece.
In March and April 2016 she participated in the large-scale performance project AS ONE in Athens, a collaboration of the greek cultural organization NEON and the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI).
Besides she works as a museum guard.
